Question Deploying configurations

Hi,

I don't have much experience with Wyse thin clients but I've recently bought a few for testing. I have some questions about automatically deploying configurations to the thin clients.

I've installed Wyse Configuration Manager on a web server and set up a site which points to WES7Config.xml. The config file is configured with the desired timezone, keyboard settings aso..

The WCM is installed on the thin clients and configured to import configuration remote with the http protocol which points to the web server. The "import configuration on every boot" is also enabled.

When I restart the thin clients a message appears saying the configurations have been successfully applied but the timezone and keyboard layout is still not correct.

If I try to import the configurations with WCM I get an error message saying "Unable to download the WES7Config.xml file from specified HTTP repository".

Anyone got a clue what's wrong?

hey, is there any opportunity to change the language to german? there is only the option to change it in the "region and language" menu but at the login prompt there is still the english keyboardlayout activated..

Updating programs without WDM - D90D7

I am wondering if I can just update programs without WDM that you download from the Wyse site. For example IE 10. Is there a way to update it on the D90D7 without using WDM?

C90LE7 WFR3 Image and Multi-Touch Monitor

Hi, I am attempting to integrate a Planar Multi-Touch monitor with a C90LE7 WES 7 thin client using the Wyse WFR3 image. It appears that Wyse left the "Tablet PC" Windows features out of the WFR 3 image. I am therefore curious - what is the simplest way to add this Windows feature to Wyse's existing WFR3 image? Do I have to deconstruct the whole base image in Wyse Device Manager and re-package? Perhaps the WFR1 or WFR2 images included this feature and it may be easier to revert? Unfortunately this is on a single device so a solution with minimal effort would be appreciated. Thank you!

C90LE7 - boot error after updating with USB Firmware Tool

I have been trying to update a C90LE7 to the latest firmware using the USB Firmware Tool, but even though it appears to complete the update successfully, when I remove the USB and the device restarts is encounters a boot error ('Unable to read boot configuration data').

I have tried both version 1.13 and 1.15 of the USB Firmware tool, but am getting the same error on restart.

It also doesn't appear to be the USB sticks themselves, as the firmware tool completes ok.

Is there something i am missing?

Realtek PCIe GBM Family Controler in Image BZ80_0818_4096 does not work.

Realtek PCIe GBM Family Controller in Image BZ80_0818_4096 does not work behnd the latest routers LINKsys and NETGEAR at least.

I found a Bug in the Realtek driver that comes with teh image, ( I think 7.32), installing the new driver 7.48.823.2011 fixed the issue.

Description of the issue:
I found out that after buying a new Linksys, and Netgear Router my Wyse Z90S7 could not connect to certain Web sites ( www.microsoft.com, cisco.com, and other 'secure' places)

By 'secure' I mean places that defend themselves form DoS attache by sending [RST,ACK] package after they receive 3 [SYN] requestes from the client without an [ACK]

I looked at the frames and if the Z90S7 was directly connected to the internet, the sequence was correct and it could connect to those places
Z90S7 -> [SYN] -> Server
Server -> [SYN,ACK] -> Z90S7
Z90S7 -> [ACK] -> Server

behind the firewall/router I saw the above from a Windows 2007 with an older Realtek driver, so it worked fine, but I saw the following from the Z90S70.

Z90S7 -> [SYN] -> Server
Server -> [SYN,ACK] -> Z90S7
Z90S7 -> [SYN] -> Server (after 3 seconds)
Server -> [SYN,ACK] -> Z90S7
Z90S7 -> [SYN] -> Server (after 3 seconds)
Server -> [RST,ACK] -> Z90S7

So the server is protecting itself form a DoS attack.

The key here is that the [SYN,ACK] is sent by the router in behalf of the server.
Also if the Z90S7 send another [SYN] instead of the [ACK] is because the package arrives to the NIC, but never make it to the Controler, due to..... a bug, that is why it sends the [SYN] again.

Upgrading the Driver fixes the problem.

Wyse, please update the image for Z90S7, or create a WDM package.

WES7 on V90L?

WES7 on V90L?

I have several V90L's and would like to get Windows ES7 on them. Reason being for interoperability with Windows Server 2008 R2, specifically last interactive logon information. Is this possible?

If not, what shall I do with these V90L's? Can they be exchanged for discounted newer WES7-capable models? Thanks.

New C90LE7 with ELO 1515L-7CWA Touch Screen Monitor

I cannot get our ELO touch screen configured with our new C90LE7. ELO/TYCO/TE Touch Solutions sent me the following:

Thin clients need to have support for our touchscreen built in - you can't just "install" a driver like on a regular Windows system. Embedding device support is complicated, and requires special software and equipment. That's why you want to make sure an embedded product such as a thin client has support already built in.
I can move my finger on the screen and the cursor will move, but it does not move under my finger. It moves in the opposite direction. If I make a clockwise circle, the cursor goes counter clockwise.

Please, let me know how to calibrate the touch screen with the C90LE7. I see other posts all over the web with folks who are having the same problem. I hope I'm just missing something simple.

Hello I too have a number of these.

I have security concerns with posting the only password, and it appears you can not modify the admin account without rewriting the whole image? so posting the password really makes these highly vulnerable! (I have people trying to modify these, with printers, to wallpaper, to pandora! and posting these passwords public with now way to modify them but rewriting the whole image,,well it worries me! (could you have pm'ed or messaged (after getting a serial then a callback to the orgs admin department?),,,(I may not buy more if they are less secure then a winxp machine on a domain,,,pleasse tighten up security,,,)

I can't find the default VNC password for Dell Wyse WES7 3290s in any documentation... a few online posts mentioned 'Wyse' and that doesnt work. Unable to remote shadow from WDM or access configuration of VNC

Screen Saver / Secure Display Lock

Has anyone figured out a way to deploy a secure screen lock without joining the WES7 to the domain? Is there another easier solution?  We are piloting some 3290 TCs which are working well but I just encountered this challenge today (not sure why it was just today).  This is in a healthcare environment so we need there to be an easy way for the users to blank the screen and lock it.

I was able to install Microsoft Office 2007 on one of my D90D7 thinclients.  How do you uninstall?  I get the window about Command Line but cannot find an explanation for it's use.

Last Logged On User always Admin when restarting with FBWF On (Domain Users)

The setup:  6 Wyse Z90 thin clients with WES7 SP1 connecting to a WinServer 2012 R2 Terminal Server via RDP.  The clients are added to the domain and can successfully connect to the terminal server.  All domain profiles have been added  to the NetXclean.ini file and the profiles persist after a restart with the FBWF on or off.

The issue: When restarting the computer with the FBWF On, the user logon always defaults to Administrator.

Desired behavior: The client should present the last logged on user if a restart occurs.

Attempted: 1. FBWF Off - The last user is presented at logon.  However, the file structure is open to writes. Does not solve issue.

2. Change [Profiles] P1 to desired user.  Administrator presented at logon.  Does not solve issue.

3. Changed [Parameters] SaveDynamicProfiles=1 to 2. Then to 7 to try to save all profiles (P1 = Adminisrtrator, P2 = User, P3 to P7 = Other users) and when FBWF = On, it always shows Administrator instead of last logged in user. Does not solve issue.

I look forward to any tips or questions! I will try to answer as quickly as possible and I hope that there is some easy solution out there that I just can't think of or find.

Wyse D90D8 USB Imaging Tool Issue

Hi,


I've recently installed the latest OS image on a Wyse D90D8 and everything works as it should.

I now need to pull an image from this Wyse to the USB. The Wyse USB Imaging Tool recognises 2 attached USB drives for several seconds then seems to ignore them and a red message appears under Overall Progress saying 'Prior to starting an operation, make sure that a USB Drive is detected by the tool and selected.

On the 'Image Push' task section, there is a message under Overall Progress saying 'Failed to read drive information. Verify if USB Drive is connected to the system and try again'.

Both the drives are found on the thin client itself, and both appear under the USB drives tab within the Imaging Tool.

The USB drives are both FAT32, I have tried exFAT and NTFS, both are empty, both work with the USB Imaging Tool on other systems.

The USB drives are an Integral Titan 32GB USB 3.0 and a Kingston DTI/ 4GB.

Write Filter is off, I log in as an administrator and I run the program as an administrator.

Any ideas what the solution is?

X90M7 Wireless roaming

Hi.

We have some X90M7 installed on forklifts moving around in a warehouse. Specially the Wyse clients are having issues roaming between the AP´s. When they roam, the clients are disconected from the network up to 2 minutes. Tried to get the latest updates from Wyse, but stille the same.

Other models from VXL are working fine. 

Has anyone else had this issue and found a resolution to that?

Touch screen - touch functionality on dell wyse thin client WE7S

The Touchscreen doesn’t work when plugged into Dell Wyse thin client running a pre-installed Windows 7 Embedded Std OS.

The HP screen (E220t) is a standard HID-compliant device. Normal driver doesn’t work, and we’ve also installed the driver downloaded from the HP site and it doesn’t work

Plugging the screen into a normal Windows 10 Pro PC works.

Can anyone provide assistance on how to add touch functionality to the TC?

WSE8 5020 / Camera Redirection / Skype

Hello, We are trying to allow the redirection – integration of the USB devices connected to a Wyse Terminal – Embedded Windows 8 to a VDI machine hosted on vWorkspace 8.5. The WebCam is successfully detected into the Imaging Devices/ Device Manager, but unable to share it / use it inside the vWorkspace.

The purpsose of this is as we are rolling out Lync/ Skype for Business and majority of our users are using vWorkspace VDI, we have to get the WebCam / Mic / Headset to work in a VDI environment.

Any help please?
